11 Things We Can Learn from Self-Adjusting Game

  • We’ve all been there: you’re playing the game of your life, and then you make a choice that you instantly regret. Maybe you killed someone you shouldn’t have, maybe you let someone die whom you wish you’d saved, maybe you just said the wrong thing… and then it’s too late. You can’t go back.
  • With Mass Effect Legendary Edition steam, that’s no longer the case. Now, when you choose to save or kill a character or choose to say one thing over another thing, your choice is remembered throughout all three games in the series.
  • So if something didn’t turn out as well as it could have with your first playthrough, now you can try again with a different choice where possible—no more playing through the same missions repeatedly just to see what would happen if you had made a different decision.
  • And let’s be real—there are some choices in these games that we’ve been wanting to change for about fifteen years now.

Mass Effect – Making The Trilogy Better Than Ever

Mass Effect Legendary Edition

  • Art is a medium for human beings to tell stories and build worlds.
  • That’s why the art in Mass Effect Legendary Edition Xbox is so important—it’s the tool we use to create characters and settings that players can fall in love with, and that they not only want to inhabit but want to support.
  • And we’re proud of the way that it was handled in the remaster.
  • Our goal from the start was to improve and enhance the visuals while staying true to the original aesthetics of the trilogy that have become so iconic and genre-defining over the past decade.
  • The fact that this is a remaster rather than a remake gave us the opportunity to build upon existing assets in ways that resemble what happens during a normal development cycle, while also being able to utilize more modern hardware and software.

Building the Foundation

  • We started Phase 1 by identifying and cataloging every asset in the trilogy.
  • The number of Particle impacts, 3D models, surfaces, levels, GUI (Graphical UI) components, sounds, artistic films, and so forth actually exist across the trilogy, and are there any gaps in what we had?

For example:

  • In Mass Effect Legendary Edition differences 1 there are two Normandy SR-1s—one for gameplay and one for cinematics (there’s also a third that appears only in a single cutscene). In Mass Effect 2 and 3 there’s one Normandy model for everything. What do we do about this?
  • We also needed to gather all of these assets off of the original discs—no small task considering that we were dealing with over 100 DVDs worth of data. Once everything was gathered in its original format, it was time to begin digging into each game to see how things were built.
  • We did this so that we could better understand where the work needed to be done to update assets as well as doing things like making sure that all of our updated assets would fit together properly, while also allowing us to add features like a unified character creator and consistent interface across all three games.

Here’s How ‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ Is Changing

  • The team has been working on Mass Effect Legendary Edition for a while now, and the time has come to start talking about it.
  • I’m Mac Walters, project director on the project. We’ll have more folks here over time to talk about their various roles on the project, but I guess I’ll start off. What is Mass Effect Legendary Edition? Well, in short, it’s the Mass Effect trilogy remastered and improved in one package.
  • If you’re familiar with our past remasters (Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut and Dragon Age: Origins – Ultimate Edition), this isn’t that.
  • This is a full-scale remake of the first Mass Effect game. We’ve rebuilt it from the ground up in Unreal 4, so it looks better than ever before.
  • And we’re not just stopping there; we’re also improving every aspect of these games: textures, models, shaders, FX, lighting, and more are being improved as much as possible to create what we call a “foundation of fidelity” that will lay the groundwork for all three games to improve upon.

  • Hi, Derek Watts the Producer at BioWare and on Mass Effect Legendary Edition, He was the Lead Producer on the Image Quality subteam.
  • His team has been working hard to get Mass Effect Legendary Edition ready for you all. We’ve been testing our products with a wide range of players and fans, including people who’ve never played the original trilogy before – it’s amazing to see their reactions!
  • The final months of development are often a blur of bug fixes and polish, but we’ve been talking internally about Image Quality for years. We knew that we’d have to do something unique for this special project, so we created a new subteam to focus solely on image quality.
  • He and two other veterans from the studio joined forces with an incredibly talented group of new hires who were brought specifically onto the project to help us improve and polish up the trilogy. Together, our team started focusing on the most important goal: we wanted everything in the collection to look better than ever before.
  • This is no easy task when working with games that are over a decade old. In addition to your typical gameplay optimizations, visual improvements, and bug fixing, a large portion of our time was spent significantly upgrading and improving every single image throughout all three games
